TUCSON, Ariz. - So much for those Tulane complaints about not being taken seriously.

The previously unbeaten Green Wave were blasted by seventh-seeded Arizona, 48-28, in the Insight.com Bowl. The Wildcats ran up six TDs, 34 first downs, 576 yards of offense and put Tulane away soon after halftime.

Arizona will have a hard time repeating those numbers in the second round, facing Florida State in the Gator Bowl next week. But against Tulane, the Wildcats' offense could do almost no wrong.

After falling behind 7-0 in the first, the Wildcats got on the board on the first play of the second quarter. Kelvin Eafon ran a draw seven yards to tie the game.

The Arizona offense started clicking after that. Trung Canidate scored from six yards out with just over nine minutes left to put the Wildcats ahead. Then, Keith Smith hit Jeremy McDaniel on a two-yard scoring pass to end a 73-yard scoring drive with two minutes left in the half.

Canidate dominated that drive, gaining 54 of his 135 rushing yards on that series.

But Shaun King and Tulane answered on the next play. Following a 62-yard kickoff return, King connected with P.J. Franklin to keep the game close heading into halftime.

Tulane's offense was impressive for most of the game, running up 423 yards. However, Tulane's tired defense had no answer for the Wildcats in the second half.

Four minutes into the third, Canidate scored again to give Arizona a 28-14 lead. The Wildcats added a field goal on the next drive, putting Tulane in a hole from which it could never climb out.

Tulane's King had a stellar day despite the loss. He threw for 385 yards and 3 TDs without an interception. He completed 22-of-29 passes and would have had even better numbers if not for three dropped passes within a five-minute span of the third quarter.
