Royals' DeJesus leaves game |
Kansas City, MO (Sports Network) - Kansas City Royals outfielder David DeJesus left Sunday's 9-6 setback to the St. Louis Cardinals with bruised ribs.
DeJesus was injured trying to score in the opening inning on a Jose Guillen single. He was gunned down by left fielder Skip Schumaker and landed on his side atop catcher Jason LaRue's mask. He was replaced by Esteban German in left to start the bottom of the third.
DeJesus walked in his only at-bat and is hitting .316 this season with eight home runs and 41 runs batted in 68 games.
German filled in nicely with a pair of singles, an RBI and a run scored to boost his paltry average to .171 on the season in 38 games.
