New York, NY (Sports Network) - New York Mets pitcher Pedro Martinez left Saturday's 3-0 victory over the Colorado Rockies due to precautionary reasons.
During the game, Martinez felt soreness in both his right shoulder and his groin. However, after the game, he told reporters that neither injury was a concern and the decision was made to give him more rest heading into the All- Star break.
Before exiting, he tossed four shutout innings in which he allowed one hit and three walks, while picking up three strikeouts.
Martinez is 3-2 with a 6.25 ERA this season.
Martinez, a three-time Cy Young winner and an eight-time All-Star, was on the disabled list for over two months earlier this season with a left hamstring injury.
