New Haven, CT - Anne Martin took third place in the 3000m steeplechase and Nadia Sawicki finished eighth in the 10000m run to highlight the first day of competition at the ECACs for Yale.
Martin's time of 10:29.40 placed her just behind New Hampshire's Lesley Read (10:28.21). Yale's Claire Hamilton finished 23rd (11:02.90).
Nadia Sawicki's time of 36:24.22 edged out Bucknell's Katie Pfeifer (36:24.97) for eighth place, earning her All-East recognition along with Martin. Her sister Alexandra Sawicki also competed Friday night, placing 22nd in the 5000m run with a time of 17:48.94.
The meet continues through Sunday at Yale's track and field complex. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students, children (under 14) and seniors.
