Yale's 14-7 defeat of then #13 James Madison University on March 6 is having a number of positive repercussions for the Bulldogs. Both the team and individual athletes are garnering quite a bit of media attention due to the impressive win. Katherine Sargent and Ellen Cameron both received individual honors from lacrosse media, while the Yale team, who was previously unranked, cracked the nation's top 20 with a #14 ranking by the Intercollegiate Womens Lacrosse Coaches Association.
Katherine Sargent was named an honorable mention insidelacrosse.com National Player of the Week following the JMU game. Sargent scored five goals against the Dukes, including the game-winner.
In her first collegiate lacrosse game, freshman Ellen Cameron played all 60 minutes in the cage for the Bulldogs. Her nine saves and five ground balls were good enough to earn her honors as womenslacrosse.com's Rookie of the Week.
Yale (1-0) travels to #17 University of New Hampshire for a 2 p.m. game tomorrow, a make up of today's game, which was postponed due to inclement weather.
