NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Will Porter, who guided Yale to it first Eastern Sprints title since 1981 last spring, has been named the 2005 Eastern Association of Women's Rowing Colleges Coach of the Year. The EAWRC consists of all eight Ivy League schools and Syracuse, Rutgers, Boston University, Northeastern, George Washington, Georgetown, MIT, Navy and Boston College. The award is voted on by the league's head coaches.

Porter, who also was named the New England Region Coach of the Year by the CRCA, led the Bulldogs varsity eight to an 11-1 regular season record and a seventh-place finish at the NCAA Championship.
