Jeffers Earns Spot In U.S. Four That Will Compete In World Championships

Aug. 4, 2006

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Rachel Jeffers, a rising senior who will serve as the captain of the 2006-07 Yale women's crew team, has earned a spot in the United States' four boat that will compete at the FISA World Rowing Championships from Aug. 20-27 in Eton, England. Jeffers, who won a silver medal with a U.S. eight at the FISA World Cup in Lucerne, Switzerland, in July, has spent the summer training with the national team in New Jersey.

Jeffers has had an impact on the Yale crew since the day she arrived in New Haven. As a freshman, she was in the No. 1 seat on the Bulldogs' varsity eight that finished second at the NCAA Championships, and she has been named first team All-America by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association in each of the last two years.
