STONY BROOK, N.Y. - Travis Chulick made eight saves in his first career start in goal as Yale played a scoreless tie with Stony Brook. It was the third scoreless tie of the season for the Bulldogs (3-6-5).
Yale's best chance to score came early in the second overtime when Brad Rose's shot banged off the post and rolled harmlessly out of bounds. The Bulldogs also had a good opportunity midway through the second half, but Andy Shorten's shot was punched over the crossbar by Stony Brook goalkeeper Rich Skoblicki after a scramble in front of the net.
Stony Brook (9-6-3) outshot the Bulldogs 18-9. Yale had two shots in the two 10-minute overtime periods, and Chulick stopped two shots in the second overtime. The Bulldogs also had 11 corner kicks in the game, including four in the overtimes.
Skoblicki finished with three saves for the Seawolves.
"It was a fast paced, high energy game," said Yale head coach Brian Tompkins. "We had some opportunities to win it. Our guys competed really hard. This is not an easy environment to play in."
Yale returns to action on Saturday, hosting sixth-ranked Brown at 4:30 p.m. at Reese Stadium.
"We'll regroup and get ready to play our toughest game of the season," Tompkins said.
