NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Yale freshman Marc Sawyer (Largo, Fla.) went 9-for-15 (.600) with three RBI, two doubles and 11 total bases in two doubleheaders as the Bulldogs went 3-1 against Harvard last weekend. Sawyer, who leads the Bulldogs with a .398 batting average, has hit safely in 10 of his last 11 games, going 18-for-39 (.462) during that stretch.
A first baseman, Sawyer ranks fourth in the Ivy League in batting average (.398) and leads the Bulldogs in average, hits (39), on-base percentage (.440) and slugging percentage (.520). Sawyer is tied for the team lead in home runs (3) and RBI (17).
The Bulldogs have won six of their last eight games, have a 13-15 overall mark and an 8-4 Ivy League record. Yale is tied for second with Harvard in the Red Rolfe division, one game behind Dartmouth (9-3).
