In the latest college sailing polls taken Oct. 21, the women's team earned a first place ranking while the coed team was listed second. The Elis are preparing for the upcoming Atlantic Coast Championships, held at MIT and College of Charleston.
The Yale women's team has been strong all season, and moved up from the No. 2 spot into the top place. Former No. 1 Harvard dropped to No. 8 with some disappointing weekends. Joining Yale in the top five positions are Brown, Charleston, Dartmouth, and Georgetown.
In the coed rankings, Yale moved up two spots from No. 4 to No. 2. The University of Southern California retained its top position, and Kings Point, Boston College, and Hobart/William Smith rounded out the top five. The next highest-ranked Ivy League team is Dartmouth, who came in at 7th place.
The rankings are determined by Sailing World Magazine's coaching panel, which consists of Georgetown's Michael Callahan, Tufts' Ken Legler, and USC's Mike Segerblom.
The coed Atlantic Coast Championships will be held at MIT on the weekend of Nov. 13-14, and the women's event is hosted by the College of Charleston on the same dates.
