NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The No. 1 Bulldogs placed fourth at the New England Dinghy Championship Coast Guard Alumni Bowl Sunday with 177 points. Boston College (127 pts.), Harvard (139 pts.) and Dartmouth (164 pts.) placed first, second and third respectively. The four teams all earned the right to sail at the ICSA Coed Dingy National Championships (May 30-Jun. 1 in Annapolis, Md.).
13 races were sailed in two divisions.
Junior captain Zachary Brown skippered Yale's boat in the A division. Sophomore Grace Becton (races 1-4, 7-13) and senior Kendra Emhiser (5-6) handled the crewing duties. The boat took fourth in the division with 94 points. It also tallied five top five finishes.
In the B division, the Bulldogs were represented by freshman skipper Thomas Barrows, junior crew Abigail Coplin (1-4, 6-7, 9-13) and freshmen crews Michael Hession (5) and Marla Menninger (8). Barrows skippered the Yale boat to another fourth place finish, tallying 83 points and five top five finishes.
The Bulldogs return to action at the 48th National Team Racing Championships in Annapolis, Md. starting on May 27th.
