A Capital Sweep

FAIRFAX, Va. - The Musketeers pushed their record to 14-2 on the season with a three-game sweep at George Mason (30-21, 30-21, 30-23) in non-conference action on Saturday.

With the win, Xavier head coach Floyd Deaton picked up his 250th career win against just 139 losses in his 12 years at the school. The Patriots fell to 8-6.

Senior Jill Hampton (Ft. Mitchell, Ky./Notre Dame Academy) led all players with 14 kills while adding seven digs. Fellow senior Sara Bachus (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton H.S.) was just behind Hampton with 13 kills and a team-high eight digs for the Musketeers.

Freshman Molly Martin (Minnetonka, Minn./Hopkins H.S.) led the Xavier offense to a .343 hitting percentage on the day while dishing out 37 assists.

The Musketeer defense was led by seven block assists by junior Katey Wygant (Papillion, Neb./Papillion La Vista H.S.) who also had seven digs.

Xavier returns to action on Friday at Atlantic 10 foe Fordham at 7 p.m.
