CINCINNATI --- Senior right side Sara Bachus (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton H.S.) had a career-high 28 kills while hitting .543 as Xavier defeated Duquesne on Tuesday, 3-1 (30-19, 30-26, 27-30, 30-22). With the win, the Musketeers (9-2, 3-2 A-10), led by head coach Floyd Deaton (244-139, 12th season), have now won 11 straight at home and hold a 16-1 record all-time in the Cintas Center. Bachus, the Atlantic 10 leader in kills and hitting percentage, extended her lead as the best hitter in school history, now with a .331 hitting percentage, and is now just seven kills shy of sixth place all-time at Xavier. She also had 11 digs for her eighth double-double of the season. Freshman setter Molly Martin (Minnetonka, Minn./Hopkins H.S.) added a season-high 66 assists while in charge of an offense that out hit Duquesne (8-4, 2-2 A-10) by a count of .346 to .149. Xavier had three players with double-digit kills and four with over ten digs. Senior Jill Hampton (Ft. Mitchell, Ky./Notre Dame Academy) led the supporting cast with 15 kills and 13 digs. Junior Katey Wygant (Papillion, Neb./Papillion La Vista H.S.) had 11 kills and 10 digs. Also, senior Amanda Lang (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton H.S.) recorded 13 digs.
