Clary Named A-10 Scholar Athlete

CINCINNATI – Just one day after being named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference Team, Xavier sophomore tennis player Lauren Clary has been named the A-10’s tennis scholar athlete of the year.

Clary was joined on the All-Academic Team by classmate and doubles partner Stephanie Bauer.

Last year’s A-10 Performer and Rookie of the Year, Clary posted a record of 26-8 while playing No. 1 singles this season. In A-10 action, Clary was 6-2 in singles.

Off the court, Clary, a native of Terre Haute, Ind., carries a 3.93 GPA as a psychology major.

Bauer was 13-6 while playing No. 2 singles and was 20-11 overall in singles play. She is a Early Childhood Education major and holds a 3.62 GPA.

Clary and Bauer teamed up to go 25-4 in doubles action in the No. 1 spot. The pair was undefeated in five Atlantic 10 doubles matches.

The Xavier women’s tennis team placed fourth in the Atlantic 10 Championship, marking its third straight top four finish.
