Women's Golf Places Second At CAA Championship
MIDLOTHIAN, Va. - The Xavier women's golf team finished in second place of the Inaugural Colonial Athletic Association Women's Golf Championship. The Musketeers finished with a total of 956 for the tournament behind James Madison who shot a Championship best 924. The big story for Xavier came during the Final Round when sophomore Abby Fowler set a school record, shooting a 69. This also tied a Championship record with James Madison's Carol Green. Fowler shot 237 for the Championship and finished in sixth place. Green placed first shooting an impressive 224. Leading the way for the Musketeers was sophomore Sarah Sparks. Sparks came in third place after shooting a 229 for the Championship. Rounding out the top ten finishers for Xavier was Emily Shoplik, who finished tied for eighth. Shoplik shot 242 for the Championship. Seniors Beth Hamilton and Kelly Bego helped the push for Xavier. Hamilton shot a 248, tying her for 15th, while Bego was 24th, shooting a 262.
