Xavier in Third Place After Round Two of Lady Colonel Classic

RICHMOND, Ky. – After day two of the EKU Lady Colonel Classic, the Xavier women's golf team is in third place with a two day total of 642, only 12 shots off the lead.

The Musketeers carded a 309 on Friday morning, only Toledo (313) and Murray State (309) finished with better second round scores in the 15 team field.

Sophomore Emily Shoplik (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel Area) leads Xavier after the second round. Shoplik is currently in third with a two round total of 154. Shoplik shot a second round 75, just two over par and was tied for the best total of the round.

Senior Beth Hamilton (Norman, Okla./Lakota Eat (OH)) sits in a tie for 14th place with a second round score of 80 and a two day total of 160.

Sophomores Sarah Sparks (Kendalville, Ind./East Noble) and Abby Fowler (South Medford, Ore./South Medford) completed the scoring for Xavier with an 80 and 79 respectively. Sparks and Fowler are both tied for 32nd place.

Xavier will look to continue Friday’s success on Saturday as the final round gets underway at 8:00 a.m.
