Musketeers Finish 13th at Miccosukee Championship

Miami, Fla. – The Xavier University women’s golf team fired a third round of 310 to finish with a three round total of 964 (+88) at the Miccosukee Golf Championship hosted by Florida International. The Musketeers placed 13th in the 18-team field, which was played on the 5,919-yard, par-73 Miccosukee Country Club. Georgia State claimed the team title with a three-round total of 914 (+38). Senior Sarah Sparks carded a two-over par 75 in the final 18 holes to finish with a three-round 243. Diana Torry was not far behind Sparks as the freshman shot a 75 on Tuesday to finish at 21-over (240) for the tournament. Sophomore Kara Manis turned in a 78 in the final round and finished in a tie for 22nd, which was the highest individual finish among Xavier’s five competitors. Abby Fowler fired an 81 while Kathleen Hardy carded a 83 and both finished with a total of 251 for the two-day event. Xavier will return to the course on Friday, March 4 for the first round of the East/West Rio Verde Invitational hosted by Eastern and Western Michigan in Rio Verde, Ariz.
