McGuff Makes First Hire, Naming Bradbury Assistant
CINCINNATI--- Xavier University womens basketball coach Kevin McGuff is wasting little time forming his coaching staff. On Tuesday, McGuff announced the hiring of his first assistant coach, Mike Bradbury, who comes to Xavier after six years as an assistant to Laurie Pirtle at the University of Cincinnati.
"Im thrilled to have a coach the caliber of Mike join my staff here at Xavier," McGuff said. "Hes a tremendous coach who brings a lot of experience and recruiting knowledge with him. Hes going to have a huge and immediate impact on the program." Bradbury is entering his 11th season as a coach. He served for two years as a student-assistant coach at Tennessee-Chattanooga and upon graduating with a B.S. in Recreation in 1993 he was hired as a fulltime assistant for the Mocs. After spending the 1993-94 season at Chattanooga, Bradbury served a year each at East Tennessee State and Virginia Commonwealth before joining the Bearcats. In Bradburys six years with UC, the Bearcats went 127-57 (.690 winning percentage). Cincinnati made the postseason in the last five straight of those years, going to the NCAA Tournament twice and the WNIT three times. Bradbury was the primary recruiter for UC, and has brought four "Top 25" recruiting classes to Clifton.
