Boothe Earns Another All-American Honor
CINCINNATI--- For the second time in a week, Xavier freshman Tara Boothe was honored as a Freshman All-American by a women’s basketball website. On Tuesday, she was tabbed as a member of the womenscollegehoops.com Freshman All-American Second Team.
One week ago, Boothe was named to the All-Newcomer team by the Full Court Press website. Boothe, the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year, was second on Xavier with 16.0 points per game while leading the team with 8.1 rebounds per contest. The graduate of Highlands High School set the Xavier freshman record for scoring and rebounding with 479 points and 242 rebounds as a rookie. This past season Boothe won a record 11 Rookie of the Week citations from the Atlantic 10 Conference and was named to the A-10 Third Team. She was sixth in the league for both scoring and rebounding average, and was second with a .538 field goal percentage. On Monday, womenscollegehoops.com named Xavier senior guard Amy Waugh an honorable mention All-American. Xavier finished this year with a 20-10 record under first-year head coach Kevin McGuff, marking the fourth 20-win season in the last five years for XU. The Musketeers placed second in the A-10 West with an 11-5 conference record and advanced to the A-10 Tournament semifinals for the sixth year in a row. In addition, the Musketeers received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, marking the fourth NCAA bid for Xavier in the last five years.
