Clyburn, Granderson and Harris Earn Accolades From Atlantic 10

CINCINNATI - Senior forward Joei Clyburn, senior guard Suntana Granderson and freshman forward Amber Harris have each been decorated with Atlantic 10 Conference postseason honors in a vote by the league coaches as announced on Tuesday. Clyburn was honored as the A-10 Sixth Player of the Year, Granderson earned mention on the All A-10 Second Team while Harris was named to the First Team, All-Rookie Team, All-Defensive Team and garnered the league's Rookie of the Year honor. Clyburn came off the bench in 26 games this season and was third on the team at 11.3 points per game and second on the team (and second in the league during A-10 action) with 7.6 rebounds per game. The Detroit native shot a solid 51.1 percent from the floor and 72.4 percent from the free throw line. She scored 20 or more points three times and also notched five double-doubles. Granderson was second on the team with 13.6 points per game and led the team with 66 3-pointers and 46 steals. Her scoring average was good for 13th in the conference and she was third in the league with 2.2 treys per game. The South Bend, Ind. native is 10th on XU's all-time scoring list with 1,481 points while scoring in double-figures 79 times in her four years at XU. Granderson was a 2006-07 Preseason First Team selection and earned First Team status following the 2005-06 season. Harris was just the third freshman all-time to be named to the All-Atlantic 10 First Team and her 12 Rookie of the Week awards mark the most earned by any A-10 student athlete all-time. Harris is XU's third Rookie of the Year honoree as Tara Boothe (2002-03) and Amy Waugh (1999-00) also garnered the accolade. The Indianapolis native is also Xavier's first All-Defensive Team honoree since the team's inception in 2001-02. Harris led XU with 16.3 points per game, 9.0 rebounds per game and is third in the country with 4.2 blocks per game. She broke XU's freshman scoring and rebounding records this year along with the school's single-season, single-game and individual career marks for blocks with 125 rejections. The Musketeers earned the No. 3 seed in this weekend's Atlantic 10 Championship, which is set to be held at Cintas Center from March 2-5. The top-four teams received a bye into Saturday's quarterfinal where XU is slated to square-off against either No. 6 Richmond or No. 11 Saint Louis at 6 p.m.
