La Salle then made 7-0 run, tying the game at 47-all with 8:56 remaining on a Monica Garrido Sanz steal and fastbreak layup.

The teams exchanged the lead three times before the game was knotted at 54-all on a layup from Xavier’s Kate Kreager (Chantilly, Va./Chantilly).

Xavier had broken the tie with an Amy Waugh (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead) three pointer, but that was negated on a double-dribble call.

Five unanswered points for La Salle gave the Explorers a 59-54 lead with 2:43 remaining.

Shavon Bell (Euclid, Ohio/Cincinnati State) got a steal and layup to cut the deficit to three, 59-56, with 1:10 left to play.

Kreager scored on an inbounds play out of a Xavier timeout, cutting it to 61-58 with 12.4 seconds showing on the clock.

Two more free throws from La Salle’s Suzanne Keilty sealed the win as the Musketeers were unable to score on their last attempt down the court.
