Boothe Ties A-10 Record for Rookie Honors

CINCINNATI--- For the eighth time this season, Xavier freshman Tara Boothe has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Week.

With eight honors this year, Boothe has tied the record that was set by Susan Moran of Saint Joseph’s in 1998-99. Moran went on to be named Rookie of the Year that season.

Boothe earned the award this week as she averaged 12.5 points and 11.5 rebounds as Xavier split a pair of games last week.

Last Sunday, Boothe scored nine points and grabbed 11 rebounds in a 69-56 win over Fordham. On Friday, Boothe paced the Musketeers with 16 points and 12 rebounds in a 61-56 loss to Richmond.

Boothe leads all Atlantic 10 freshmen in scoring with 15.2 points per game and in rebounding at 7.8 per game. She is seventh overall in the league for scoring and sixth for rebounding.

George Washington's Cathy Joens was tabbed as the A-10 Player of the Week. Boothe and the Musketeers will play Joens and the Colonials today at 2 p.m. at the Cintas Center.
