Men’s Tennis Records Victory Over Siena

Orlando, Fla. – The Xavier University men’s tennis team wrapped up its final day of play in the Sunshine State on Wednesday afternoon with a 6-1 defeat of Siena University. With the win, XU improves to 7-6 on the season.

XU won all three doubles contests to take the first point of the match. At No. 1, Brad Meadors and Justin Yeager teamed to defeat the Saints’ Nick Julia and John Michalisin, 8-5. In the second position, Rustin Reys and Rob Simpson recorded an 8-5 win over Brian Onofry and Eric Rueter. Cameron Bell and Kevin Trapp closed out doubles play with an 8-1 defeat of J.P. Ciejka and Corey Snitchler.

In singles play, junior Justin Yeager picked up his seventh with of the season as he defeated Onofry, 6-3, 6-2, in the No. 1 position.

Freshman Jeremy Miller recorded his tenth win of his career at third singles in a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Julia.

Also recording wins in singles were: Simpson at No. 4 (6-0, 6-1), Ryan Potts at No. 5 (6-0, 6-0), and Matt Zollman at No. 6 (6-0, 6-1).

The Musketeers will return to the court on Saturday as they take on Atlantic 10 Conference foe George Washington University.
