Atlantic 10 Honors Hils and Sondaal

CINCINNATI--- The Atlantic 10 Conference honored cross country runner Kerry Hils (Moberly, Mo./Moberly) and men’s soccer player Tiest Sondaal (The Netherlands) for their performances in the past week. Hils earned her second Performer of the Week citation in a row while Sondaal was dubbed Rookie of the week.

Hils, a junior, was honored for her performance in the National Catholic Cross Country Invitational on Friday. She finished in fifth place and broke the 5K school record for the second week in a row. Hils was 13 seconds faster than her previous record with a time of 17:56.

Sondaal scored a goal and had an assist in Xavier’s games against Kentucky and Cincinnati last week. The Dutch freshman helped the Musketeers upset No. 25 Kentucky 3-1 on Monday and tie crosstown rival Cincinnati 2-2 on Wednesday.

Xavier races Saturday at the Cross Country Only National Championship in St. Louis. The men’s soccer team hosts Davidson Friday at Corcoran Field before opening the Atlantic 10 schedule Sunday at Dayton.
