Strongest Showing Yet For The Xavier Cross Country Team
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Xavier University men’s and women’s cross country team had a great day at the Greater Louisville Classic. The men’s team finished 6th out of 41 teams. The men’s team also set a school record running the fastest average in school history with an average time of 25:57. The women’s team finished 5th out of 38 teams with a track time of 19:18.
Junior Paul Staudigel ran to a time of 25:20, setting the second fastest time in school history. Staudigel finished the race in 13th position out of 395 runners. Freshman Ben Milroy set a personal best time of 25:40 to finish in 24th position. Senior Drew Lamaster finished in 50th with a time of 26:08. Senior Dan Cihal ran a personal best 26:18 to finish in 63rd. Sophomore Mike Hammersmith finished one second behind teammate Cihal, running a personal best 26:19 to finish in 63rd and round out the scoring for the men. The women’s team was led by Freshman Amanda Brown who finished 11th out of 357 runners with a personal best time of 18:36. Senior Kristin Hoff finished in 34th position (19:14). Freshman Joanna Gruber was the third Musketeer to cross the finish line in 37th position with a time of 19:20. Sophomore Megan Uhl finished in 55th with a time of 19:35. Freshman Caitlin Shagena rounded out the Xavier field with a time of 19:46 to finish in 69th. The Xavier cross country team will return to action October 8 in the All-Ohio Championships.
