Runners Sweep A-10 Honors

CINCINNATI--- Three Xavier runners were honored Monday by the Atlantic 10 Conference after the Musketeer cross country teams took part in the Mel Brodt Invitational Saturday at Bowling Green State University.

Junior Kerry Hils (Moberly, Mo./Moberly) was named Performer of the Week and freshman Jaime Wyckoff (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota East) was tabbed Rookie of the Week after leading the Xavier women’s team to its second straight victory this season.

Freshman Patrick Rischmann (Cincinnati/LaSalle) was named Performer and Rookie of the Week for his efforts in the same meet.

Hils took the Performer of the Week award after breaking the school record for 5 kilometers that was previously held by Laura Breitenstein. Hils set the new mark with a time of 17:56, seven seconds faster than the record. It was the second win of the season in as many meets for Hils.

Wyckoff finished in 13th place in the meet with a time of 19:11. The freshman bettered her time from the first week by nearly 50 seconds.

Rischmann led Xavier with a time of 25:55.34 in Saturday’s race. He placed 11th overall and helped his team to a sixth place finish.

Xavier races Friday at the National Catholic Championship in South Bend, Ind.
