Xavier Swimming Splits In Double-Dual Meet
Men Pick Up First Victory of the Season

Oxford, Ohio - The Xavier men's and women's swimming teams split in double-dual meet action at Miami University. The men picked up their first victory of the season by a score of 152.50-100.50 over Valparaiso and were defeated by the Red Hawks 154-99. The women cruised past Valparaiso 154-99, but fell to Miami 143-114.

The women used a team effort on the afternoon that included two 1-2-3 finishes for the Musketeers. The 1-2-3 finishes were in the 200 Backstroke and the 400 IM.

In the 200 Back, Heather Greidanus (Pewaukee, Wisc./Arrowhead) finished first (2:11.38), Molly Moeller (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead) finished second (2:13.02), and Kristy Ulrich (Hillsborough, N.C./East Chapel Hill) finished third (2:13.07).

In the 400 IM, Janet Heil (Fort Mitchell, Ky./Notre Dame Academy) led the way with a first place finish (4:43.08), Becky Faust (St. Louis, Mo./Cor Jesu Academy) came in second (4:46.31), Ulrich took third (4:47.64).

The women's 200 Freestyle Relay team of Angie Hinrichs (Cincinnati/McAuley), Natalie Lindquist (Hinsdale, IL/Hinsdale South), Sarah Brown (Raleigh, N.C./Cardinal Gibbons), and Greidanus finished first with a season best time of 1:42.17.

Hinrichs also contributed solid performances in the individual events with a first place finish in the 100 Freestyle (53.80) and second in the 200 Freestyle (1:57.04).

Junior Molly Moeller finished first in the 100 Back (1:00.38) in addition to her second place finish in the 200 Back.

Freshman Kyle Hawley (Appleton, Wisc./Appleton North) led the Musketeers with first place finishes in the 500 Freestyle (4:48.42) and 200 Freestyle Relay (1:29.81). Hawley also finished third in the 50 Free (22.60) and fourth in the 100 Back (54.89).

Sophomore Matt Young (Mt. Washington, Ky./St, Xavier) finished first in the 400 IM (4:11.77), second in the 200 Breaststroke (2:14.40), and third in the 100 Breaststroke (1:01.35).

The men's 200 Freestyle Relay team made up of Matthew Normile (St. Louis, Mo./DeSmet Jesuit), Daniel Milheim (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville), Hawley, and John Krieger (Muscatine, Iowa/Muscatine) matched the performance of the women as they also finished first with a season best time of 1:29.81.

The Musketeers will return to the pool on Thursday, December 5, for the first day of the Zippy Invite hosted by the University of Akron.
