Xavier Swimmer Named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week
Freshman Kessler Broke School Record in 1000 Free

Xavier freshman swimmer Brittany Kessler (Elverson, PA/Bishop Shannon) has been named Atlantic 10 Co-Rookie of the Week for the week ending January 20.

Kessler established a new Xavier record in the 1000-yard freestyle…twice. On January 15, when the Musketeers hosted Wright State, Kessler swam to a time of 10:46.39, eclipsing the previous record set by Jan Feichtner, by six hundredths of a second. Five days later at Cleveland State, the freshman broke her own record, posting a time of 10:43.86. The time is the fourth fastest in the conference this season.

In contributing to Musketeer victories over Cleveland State and Duquesne, Kessler also recorded a first-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:15.74, the ninth fastest time in the Atlantic 10.
