Oct. 28, 2007
Midland, Mich. - The No. 6 seed Wayne State women's tennis team could not continue its run as the Warriors were shut out, 5-0, by No. 2 seed Grand Valley in the semi-final round of the 2007 GLIAC Tournament at the MCTC.
WSU (6-6, 4-5 GLIAC) was not able to mount any early momentum against Grand Valley (11-1, 8-1 GLIAC) as the Lakers jumped out to a 3-0 lead taking all three doubles matches.
During singles play, it took little time for Grand Valley to get the two necessary wins to take the match. Freshman Milena Vuksanovic (Pancevo, Serbia/Uros Predic Secondary School) fell in straight sets 6-4, 6-1, to Audrey Koopsen at the No. 2 position and junior Sargam Bhatt (Canton, Mich.-Taylor Truman) Jackie Shipman, 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 6 spot. All other singles matches were left unfinished.
