Hillsdale, Mich. - The Wayne State University softball team (23-12 overall, 6-4 GLIAC) scored the first run and the last run in game two of Wednesday's doubleheader suffered a 5-2 setback because the host Chargers of Hillsdale College (13-17 overall, 4-8 GLIAC) scored five times in the middle.

The Warriors grabbed a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third as Sarah Kish (St. Catharines, Ont.) had a two-out single up the middle, and Sarah Berry (Acton, Ont.) followed with a double to center field scoring Kish.

Hillsdale scored four times in the top of the fifth on three hits and a walk plus a WSU error. The Chargers scored their final run the next inning on a sacrifice fly by Brecken Libbe.

Wayne State's final run came in the bottom of the sixth as Kish had a leadoff single and scored on a double by Berry.

Nicole Abel (Kitchener, Ont.) pitched 5.1 innings for WSU and allowed five runs on nine hits to suffer the loss. Sarah Ytsma (Chatham, Ont.) pitched the final 1.2 innings striking out two and not allowing a run.

The Warriors begin a stretch of 16 home games in 13 days (not including a road twinbill at Lake Superior on Monday) tomorrow with a home doubleheader against GLIAC leading Grand Valley.
