JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

The Wyoming Cowgirl tennis team (5-7 overall) closed out their road trip with a 4-3 loss against the Jacksonville Dolphins, on Friday afternoon, in Jacksonville.

"I was pleased with the play of Amy Senko and Andrea House today," said UW head coach Krissy Hall. "Also, I felt Karolina really battled to take her match to three sets. Unfortunately, we didn't take advantage of certain opportunities, especially in doubles play."

In doubles play, the Dolphins jumped out early as they won two of three matches to take the team doubles point. The only Cowgirl team to come away with a victory was Michelle Brown and Amy Senko with an 8-4 win against Fernanda Carrero and Cristina Paiva-Flor. The number one UW team of Andrea House and Karolina Rowinski fell 8-4 against Emese Sulyos and Lena Willi, while Iva Jaresova and Tatiana Soldatova defeated Wyoming's Corina Lazar and Sarah Summerfield, 9-7.

Wyoming would have to mount a comeback, but they would fall short winning matches at the number four, five and six singles spots. At number four singles, Senko defeated Carrero, 7-6 (5), 6-3, while House also defeated her opponent Paiva-Flor, 6-2, 6-2. The Cowgirls would win at the number six spot because Jacksonville had an incomplete line-up. Summerfield fell in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0, as did Lazar, 6-4, 6-2, against Soldatova. It would come down to the final match at the number two singles as Rowinski lost a tough three set match, 6-3, 4-6, 6-2, against Willi which gave the Dolphins the win.

Wyoming will resume MWC next week as they take on UNLV and San Diego State in Las Vegas.
