LAS CRUCES, N.M. -

The Wyoming Cowgirl tennis team (3-2 overall) won their third match in a row with a 4-3 victory over the New Mexico State Aggies, on Saturday, in Las Cruces, N.M.

"I was extremely proud of the way we came out and played after losing the doubles point," said UW head coach Krissy Hall. "We did a great job of battling back to pull out this victory. This should really help our confidence in our match tomorrow."

In doubles play, the Aggies got the early jump as they won two out of three matches to take the doubles point. The number two UW team of Jamie Nelson and Sarah Summerfield defeated Anne Fagegaltier and Estelle Guillaumond, 8-6. Zelijka Juricek and Nicole Fintell defeated Wyoming's Andrea House and Karolina Rowinski, 8-6, while the team of Paulina Zuniga and Aleksa Costa earned the win over Cowgirls Michelle Brown and Amy Senko, 2-3, after they retired in the match.

It would take the Cowgirls winning at the number one, two, three and six spots to come away with the victory. Summerfield rebounded from a loss yesterday to defeated Juricek, 6-1, 6-4. At number two singles, Rowinski earned a hard fought three set victory, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4, against Fintell, while Brown defeated Fagegaltier, 6-1, 6-2. Freshman Carolina Chaix helped the Cowgirls close it out with another tough three set match, 7-6 (3), 3-6, 6-3, over Aleksa Costa. House had a tough one as Zuniga won in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3 and Guillaumond defeated Nelson, 6-1, 7-6 (4).

The Cowgirls will close out the weekend tomorrow as they face the Northern Arizona Lumberjack beginning at 10:00 a.m. in Las Cruces, N.M.
