The University of Wyoming women's golf team is competing as part of a 15-team field at the San Diego State University Lady Aztec Invitational, in Chula Vista, California. After the first 18 of 54 holes were completed, UW sits 14th, with 322 strokes.

On a rare, rainy Southern California day, teams got through the first 18 holes in just over five and a half hours, but were unable to complete the second round due to darkness. Host school San Diego State, the reigning tournament champion, is tied for sixth place with a first-round score of 304. Baylor University leads the field by seven strokes with a 291 (+3).

All but one group finished the second round, which will be completed Tuesday morning beginning at 8 a.m. Round three will follow shortly there after as the Lady Aztec Invite comes to a close.

Wyoming freshman Lindsay Bauknecht and senior Shala Hanson lead UW and scored opening rounds of 78 to tie for 37th of 83 participants.

Each team played five golfers and counted the four best scores.

The two-day tournament is being played at the Auld Course. The Auld Course plays to a par of 72 and measures 6,292 yards.
