Dudley Recognized As LSC Coach of the Year After Leading Lady Buffs To Second-Place At LSC Championships



WTAMU women's cross country head coach Kimberly Dudley was named the LSC Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year, after leading the Lady Buffs to a second-place finish at the LSC Championships last Saturday.

West Texas A&M University women's cross country head coach Kimberly Dudley was honored with the Lone Star Conference Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year Award, announced by the conference office. The honor headlines the All-Conference Awards, as the Lady Buffs had three runners receive All-LSC Accolades after leading WTAMU to a second-place finish at the LSC Championships last week.

Dudley, who is in her ninth season leading the WTAMU women's program, where she began her coaching career as a graduate assistant for two seasons after a four-year career with the Lady Buffs.

Paced by three runners in the Top 10, WTAMU finished in second-place at the LSC Championships last Saturday at Weatherford, Okla. The Lady Buffs finished with 66 points to claim second-place, as Abilene Christian University won its fifth LSC Championship in a row.

WTAMU was paced by three runners in the Top 10 to earn All-Conference honors, paced by senior Stephanie Williams in seventh, covering the 6K course in 23:22. Sophomore Jisel Bailon was ninth with an even 24:00, while junior Amy Garcia was three seconds behind at 24:03 for 10th-place.

Junior Ruby Crox was five more seconds back, placing 12th with a 24:08. Freshman Belinda Castanon was 28th with a 25;12, while sophomore Sharen Diggs placed 32nd with a time of 25:27. Freshman Nicole Lopez placed 50th with a 26:41.

WTAMU will return to action on Nov. 5 with the NCAA-II Southwest Regional meet at Abilene, Texas. The women will run at 11 a.m., followed by the men at Noon.
