WTAMU Tied For Seventh After First Day At Varsity Equestrian Championships

CONYERS, Ga. -- The West Texas A&M University equestrian team is tied for seventh-place after the first day at the Varsity Equestrian Championships at Conyers, Georgia.

WTAMU collected 10 points, tying with Sacred Heart for seventh-place. Auburn leads the field of 12 teams with 41 points, well ahead of Georgia and Oklahoma State, who are tied for second with 27 points apiece.

The Western team is tied for sixth-place with seven points, while the Hunt Seat team is in 10th-place with three points.

Individually, junior Tayla Dunn collected a fourth-place finish in Western Horsemanship-Group C, while three teammates garnered fifth-place finishes: junior Mallory Vestal in the Hunt Seat Equitation on the Flat-Group D, junior Ciearra Vinson in Western Horsemanship-Group A and junior Amanda Love in Western Horsemanship-Group D. Vinson also collected a sixth-place finish in Hunt Seat Equitation on the Flat-Group C.

The Championships continue Saturday, starting at 8 a.m.
