Eastern New Mexico, South Plains Win Buffalo Jamboree

Eastern New Mexico's men and South Plains' women won the team titles of the WTAMU Buffalo Jamboree, Friday evening at the WTAMU Horse Center.

Stephen Lemiso of South Plains won the men's race, crossing the line in 27:29.00, 46 seconds ahead of second-place Trent Joseph of Angelo State.

Naomi Kiprotich of South Plains was the women's winner, with a time of 20:07.00, 1:04 ahead of teammate Amy Garcia.

ENMU's men compiled 39 points, while Angelo State was second with 45 points, followed by Wayland Baptist (59), West Texas A&M (74) and Oklahoma Panhandle State (144).

In the women's race, South Plains scored 35 points, outdistancing Angelo State with 55 points, followed by Wayland Baptist (62), New Mexico Junior College (86), Eastern New Mexico (86) and Oklahoma Panhandle State (155).

Santiago Bustillos (JR, El Paso, Texas) led the Buffalo men with a sixth-place finish (29:53.00).

WTAMU had two women's runners compete, led by Jami Hutcherson (SR, Canyon, Texas), who finished 15th with a time of 22:35.00.

The WTAMU harriers will compete in the Abilene Christian Invite on Sept. 12.
