Former Buff Pitcher Will Baldwin Signs with Amarillo Dillas
March 23, 2004
Will Baldwin, who pitched for the West Texas A&M University baseball team in 2002 and 2003, has signed a professional contract with the Amarillo Dillas of the Central Baseball League.
The 6-4, 230-pound lefthander compiled a 7-12 record for the Buffs and was named second-team All-Lone Star Conference South Division his junior year.
In his two-year career at WTAMU, Baldwin made 23 appearances with the Buffs and started 22 games - pitching 90.2 innings. He gave up 134 hits, 93 runs, 78 earned runs, walked 55 and struck out 46. Baldwin's earned run average at WTAMU was 8.49.
During his junior year, the Philomath, Ore., native and transfer from the College of the Siskiyious (Calif.) was 6-4 with an ERA of 4.89.
Dillas manager Murray Wilson said he wants to use Baldwin's talents out of the bullpen.
"Will is a rookie who has good movement on his pitches, and I am looking forward to see him in a relief role," Wilson said.
The Dillas are members of the eight-team independent CBL with franchises in Coastal Bend (Robstown, Texas); Edinburg, Texas; Fort Worth, Texas; San Angelo, Texas; Jackson, Miss.; Shreveport, La.; and Pensacola, Fla.
