Rams Have Great Showing at Liberty Kickoff :: Marcellus wins 200m dash, 4x400m relay places 2nd

LYNCHBURG, VA - The Rams got off to a fast start with some great performances at the 2007 Liberty Kickoff. The WSSU sprinters were great at the meet, which included some top competition, posting some fantastic times and finishes.

The Rams were especially solid in the sprints where the team posted a number of top finishes. Junior Richard Marcellus led the way winning the 200m dash in a time of 22.42. Sophomore Brandon Howe placed 12^th in the event in a time of 23.16. Junior Gerrod Sidbury was also solid on the day finishing 6^th in the 400m dash with a time of 50.90.

The WSSU relay team was also great, finishing second in the event with a time of 3:24.39 in the event. Only Virginia State had a better performance than the Rams. The Rams did leave teams from Liberty, Bowie State, and Richmond in their wake.

Junior Nathan Summerville had the best field event finish placing 11^th in the high jump, clearing 6'2.25" (1.89m).

The Rams will have a bit of a break as the team will wait until January for their next action with the team taking part in the Carolina Classic, hosted by UNC-Chapel Hill on January 19^th.
