DAYTON, OH - The rain couldn't dampen the Wright State women's soccer teams effort as they controlled play with Valparaiso in the second half, eventually posting a 1-0 victory over the Crusaders in overtime.

The two teams played a scoreless first half as WSU held a slight five-to-three advantage in shots and WSU's freshman keeper Meghan Hackerson posted a pair of saves. Jess Rooma led the WSU attack in the first half and launched three shots.

In the second half, WSU stepped up their intensity and out-shot the Crusaders eleven-to-two in the stanza. In the final ten minutes of regulation the Green and Gold took a pair of corner kicks and peppered VU with four shots.

At the end of 90-minutes of play, the two teams remained scoreless and headed into overtime under a steady rain fall. It was the 17th shot for the Raiders, but was the golden goal as Amber Kasmer connected on her 12th marker of the season.

Kasmer took a pass from junior Amy Miller and chipped a shot over the head of the Valparaiso (10-8, 4-4 HL) keeper from the top of the penalty box. The goal came at the 96:14 mark of the match and gave WSU the Horizon League victory

It was the 12th marker for Kasmer and gave WSU its 12th victory of the 2007 season. The Green and Gold are now tied with a trio of Raider teams for the most wins in a single season. The 2007 edition is now tied with the 1988, 2000 and 2006 teams with 12 victories.

On the individual side of things, Kasmer now moves into a tie for third on the single season scoring list at WSU with 12 goals this season and her 27 points this season are tied for seventh in a single season. With the assists, Miller moves into a tie for ninth on the all-time points list at WSU, tying her with Kris Johnson and Marcy Sebastian with 45 career points.

Hackerson posted three saves in the match to record her seventh shutout of the 2007 season. The rookie is now tied for third on the single season shutout list and needs two more blankings to move into first.

The Raiders improve to 12-4-1 overall and push their league record to 5-1-1, locking up a first round home match in the Horizon League Tournament. WSU will host Loyola at 1:00 in their regular season finale on October, 28 with second place in the league on the line. WSU will also honor their four seniors before the match at Alumni Field.
