AUSTIN, TX - The Wright State women's soccer team pushed #6/#7 Texas to the limit on Friday evening at Mike A. Meyers Stadium on the UT campus. The Raiders took a 1-0 lead into the half, but Texas out-shot WSU 19-1 on their way to a 2-1 victory.
The Raiders took an early advantage when Amber Kasmer netted her fourth tally of the season at the 12:58 mark. It was the fourth marker of the season for Kasmer, ranking her second on the team in goals, and gave WSU an early 1-0 lead.
The Longhorns used a pair of second half goals to take the lead from the Green and Gold, as Kelsey Carpenter and Niki Arlitt netted markers within four minutes of each other. The Longhorns then clamped down and held the Raiders off for the remainder of the second half.
In the match, Texas held the advantage in shots (19-1), corner kicks (11-0) and WSU keeper Meghan Hackerson recorded three saves.
Wright State falls to 7-3-0 overall this season with the loss and will return home for their next match on October 5. The Green and Gold will entertain Butler at Alumni Field starting at 5:00.
