Western Kentucky University head men's basketball coach Darrin Horn announced the hiring of Andy Allison as the program's director of operations Friday. Allison comes to the Hill from Memphis, where he served as a graduate assistant the last two years on John Calipari's staff. His responsibilities with the Tigers included film breakdown and scouting reports, monitoring the player's academic progress, assisting with running camps, on-campus recruiting, day-to-day operations and supervising the managerial staff. Memphis was 23-7 -- reaching the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1996 -- last year, while the Tigers posted a 27-9 mark in claiming the NIT championship in Allison's first year on the staff. Western Kentucky Adds Former NC State Standout To Men's Basketball Staff
Former North Carolina State star Archie Miller was named assistant men's basketball coach at Western Kentucky University Friday, completing head coach Darrin Horn's first full-time staff. Miller was an administrative assistant with the North Carolina State program last year after a stellar career playing for the Wolfpack. NC State finished 18-13 last season, reaching the championship game of the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament as well as the NCAA Tournament. His responsibilities included assisting in both recruiting and scouting as well as coordinating the school's summer camps. (more)

Western Kentucky Men's Basketball Inks Antonio Haynes
Antonio Haynes became the second men's basketball player to commit to Western Kentucky University when head coach Darrin Horn announced Monday that the junior-college transfer signed a National Letter-of-Intent. Haynes will have two years of eligibility remaining beginning in the fall. He comes to the Hill from Georgia Perimeter College, which reached the semifinals of the National Junior College Athletic Association Tournament and finished last year 32-6, 14-2 in the Georgia Junior College Athletic Association. Ryan Lambert Signs With Western Kentucky Men's Basketball
Western Kentucky University head men's basketball coach Darrin Horn announced Tuesday that Ryan Lambert has signed a National Letter-of-Intent and will enroll in school in the fall. Lambert, a 6-foot-7, 225-pound forward from Germantown, Md., prepped last season at Hargrave Military Academy. He is the first player to sign with the Hilltoppers since Horn was hired to lead the program April 15. (more)

Western Kentucky University head men's basketball coach Darrin Horn announced another addition to his staff with the hiring of Sean Doherty as assistant coach Thursday. Doherty has been at Holy Cross the last four seasons, serving as an assistant the first two years before earning a promotion to associate head coach. His efforts helped lead the Crusaders to the NCAA Tournament each of the last three years. (more)

Western Kentucky University head men's basketball coach Darrin Horn announced Tuesday that Patrick Sparks has been granted his release, a decision that comes based on consideration that began prior to the end of the 2002-03 season. "Patrick Sparks contributed to the success of Western Kentucky basketball the last two years," said Horn, who was hired April 15. "He has informed me that he wants to explore other options. It is obvious that this is a decision that Patrick has not rushed into, but has considered over a long period of time. I wish Patrick and his family all the best in their future endeavors." (more)

Hilltopper Basketball Celebrates Third Straight NCAA Appearance At Annual Banquet
Patrick Sparks was one of three Western Kentucky University men's basketball players to earn multiple awards at the team's annual banquet held Thursday at the Holiday Inn University Plaza. David Boyden and Mike Wells also collected multiple honors as the Hilltoppers celebrated their third consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, Sun Belt Conference tournament championship and SBC East Division title. Western concluded the year 24-9 overall with a 12-2 record in league action. (more)

Darrin Horn Selected Western Kentucky Men's Basketball Head Coach
Darrin Horn, a key member of the last Western Kentucky University men's basketball team to reach the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament, returned to the Hill Tuesday when he was named the school's new head coach. Horn, 30, comes home from Marquette, where he served as an assistant coach for four years and helped lead the school to its first NCAA Final Four since 1977. He replaces Dennis Felton, who accepted the head coaching job at Georgia after posting a 100-54 record the last five seasons. Horn was introduced at an 8:30 p.m. (CDT) press conference at E.A.
