Bowling Green, Ky. -- Former Western Kentucky University closer Matt Wilhite was recently promoted to the Arkansas Travelers, the Double-A affiliate of the Anaheim Angels. After signing with the Angels as a free agent last month, Wilhite reported to Provo, Utah, to pitch for the organization's Rookie League club. (more)

Hilltopper Baseball To Host Fall Instructional League
The Western Kentucky University baseball staff will be hosting a fall instructional league for players who will be in grades 9-12 in the fall of 2003. The league will meet every Monday and Thursday night from 5:00 until 9:00 over a four-week stretch beginning in late August. Every participant will be involved in one game and receive instruction each night. Instruction will be provided by the coaches and players at Western Kentucky University. Former Western Kentucky University All-American pitcher Matt Wilhite has signed a professional contract with the World Champion Anaheim Angels. He has been assigned to the Provo (Utah) Angels, Anaheim's rookie league squad in the Pioneer League. Wilhite was previously playing with the Kenosha (Wis.)
