Senior sprinter won two events at Wisconsin last weekend

Panthers Send 10 To Indiana Relays This Weekend

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (Jan. 31, 2007) - Senior Timeka Walker of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's track and field team was named the Horizon League Athlete of the Week for Jan. 29, the league office announced today.

This marks the second-straight week a Panther has earned the honor, following sophomore Beth Zimmerman Jan. 22. This is the third athlete of the week award of Walker's career.

Walker topped the field in both the 60m and 200m at Wisconsin's Madison Elite Invitational last weekend. She ran a time of 7.69 in winning the the 60m, finishing just 0.06 seconds off her school-record mark. In the 200m, she crossed the line in 25.60.

The Milwaukee, Wis., native remains undefeated through three events this season after winning the 55m at the Division I Invitational Jan. 13.

Walker will be one of 10 Panthers in action this weekend at the Indiana Relays in Bloomington, Ind. The meet runs on Friday and Sunday. The remainder of the squad returns to action Feb. 9-10 at the Iowa State Cyclone Classic.
