Panther Tennis Continues Road TripApril 10, 2002 MILWAUKEE - The Panther road trip continues this week as the women's tennis team travels to Youngstown, Ohio, and Chicago this weekend for a pair of matches. The Panthers and Penguins will square off Saturday at 3 p.m. Central time, while UWM visits Chicago State Sunday for a 2 p.m. meeting. Youngstown State Series Notes: This will be the second meeting between the Penguins and Panthers since UWM moved to Division I in 1990. The two schools met in 1995 in Dayton, Ohio, with UWM coming away with the victory. YSU is one of only two Horizon League schools that UWM currently has a winning record against (Cleveland State, 9-4). Chicago State Series Notes: UWM has taken the last three meetings between the two schools and holds a 3-2 edge in the all-time series. The two schools played last year in Detroit, a Panther victory, the second of coach Erin Grambow's collegiate coaching career. Last Time Out: The Panthers fell to Cleveland State on Sunday in Cleveland by a 5-2 margin. Sunday's match marked the first time this season the Panthers won the doubles point, as Molly Caulk and Cassie Kuranz got a win at second doubles. CSU did not enter a team in third doubles, giving UWM the win by default. The other Panther win came at sixth singles, where the undermanned Vikings did not enter a player. An Eye On The Record Books: Freshman Megan Brown is one win away from giving the Panthers three straight seasons with at least six wins by a freshman. Cassie Kuranz had six a year ago in her first season, and Molly Caulk won nine matches in her freshman year. The most wins by a freshman in UWM's Division I history is 14, set by Tori Whitlinger in 1994-95.
Up Next: The Panthers conclude their season next weekend with the final home match of the season when Butler makes a visit to the Klotsche Center. No time or site has been named for the match against the Bulldogs.
