UWM Tennis Signs Two

Halcomb and Vanlieshout to join Panthers in Fall 2002

MILWAUKEE - The UWM women's tennis program has signed two student-athletes to national letters of intent, head coach Erin Grambow announced today.

Alyssa Halcomb of Camarillo, Calif., and Marjorie Vanlieshout of Oshkosh, Wis., will join the Panthers for the 2002-2003 season.

Halcomb is a four-year letterwinner at St. Bonaventure High School in Ventura, Calif., where she compiled a career record of 133-15. She was also the winner of the 2000 Best Sportsmanship Award from the Southern California section of the United States Tennis Association. Halcomb is currently ranked 63rd in the Southern California section of the USTA.

"Alyssa will be a great addition to the team, and she will have an immediate impact on our program," Grambow said. "She has had much success against some very tough California competition, and we look forward to her bringing that same level of play to UWM."

Vanlieshout is a four-year selection fo the Fox Valley Association All-Conference team and the Appleton Post-Crescent All-Area team. She captured first team all-state honors during her freshman, junior and senior seasons at Oshkosh North. She compiled a career record of 93-33 and was named her team's most valuable player her senior year. Vanlieshout is currently 13th on the Wisconsin seedings list of the USTA.

"Marjorie comes from a great tennis background and brings experience in both singles and doubles," Grambow said. "She is a great addition to the team as we look to strengthen our conference position."
