Panthers Host League Quarterfinal Match Saturday

Milwaukee will face winner of Tuesday's first round game

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (Oct. 29, 2007) - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's soccer team will host a quarterfinal match in the 2007 Horizon League Tournament Saturday evening at Engelmann Field.

The game is set for a 6 p.m. central time start with the Panthers facing off with the winner of the league's first round game. UWM is the top seed in the tournament and will face either No. 8 Cleveland State or No. 9 Youngstown State. CSU and YSU square off Tuesday, Oct. 30, in Cleveland, Ohio.

Should Milwaukee win its quarterfinal contest, it would host the remaining league teams in the semifinals Friday, Nov. 9, and the championship game Sunday, Nov. 11.

The Panthers are in search of their first league tournament title since 2005 and their fifth overall.

Ticket prices for all tournament games at Engelmann Field are $5 for adults and $3 for children under 17 and senior citizens. Students of any league school are admitted free.

While Milwaukee claimed the No. 1 seed in the tournament with a 7-0-1 record, the remaining seeds were up in the air until Sunday. Loyola (7-1) claimed the second seed with a 2-0 win over No. 3 Wright State (5-2-1).

No. 4 Butler (5-3) had already clinched a home quarterfinal game by Sunday and with it, it hosts No. 5 Valparaiso (4-4). Detroit (2-3-3) defeated Youngstown Sunday, clinched the sixth seed and plays at Wright State. Meanwhile, Green Bay (2-6) is the seventh seed and travels to Loyola.
