MILWAUKEE, Wis. (Sept. 26, 2005)--The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's and women's cross country teams return to action this weekend at the Loyola Lakefront Invitational Saturday (Oct. 1) in Chicago. The meet is hosted by league-foe Loyola and will get underway at 10:30 a.m. at Montrose beach.

Last time out: Three Panther men finished among the top 100 at the Roy Griak Invitational as Milwaukee placed 23rd at the national-caliber meet. Senior Josh Nygren was UWM's top runner, taking 74th. On the women's side, sophomore Angie Huebner was the top-finisher for the second-straight meet, taking 102nd, to lead the women to 30th place.

Looking Ahead: In preparation for the Pre-National Invitational, both Panther squads will be without some of their top runners. For the men, seniors Josh Nygren and Nate Weiland and junior Ben Uphoff are expected to be inactive this weekend to train for Pre-Nationals, while junior Kourtney Nault and sophomores Angie Huebner and Holly Nearman are expected to be held out on the women's side.

Rankings: Milwaukee's men entered the USCCCA Great Lakes Regional rankings last week at No. 12 after not being ranked to start the season. This week, the Panthers fell one place to No. 13 behind Marquette. UWM is the second-highest ranked league school behind No. 5 Butler. The only other regionally-ranked Horizon League school is Loyola, which is No. 5 in the Midwest Region. Women's cross country features rankings by WICCCA and go 10 deep in the region. The Great Lakes Region has featured very little change in rankings this season.

Up Next: Like the Roy Griak Invitational last week, the Panthers will face national competition at the Pre-National Invitational Oct. 15 in at Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Ind. ISU also hosts the NCAA Championships in November.
