LAWRENCE, Kan. - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's track and field team closed out the 77th Annual Kansas Relays with encouraging performances. Gabe Wagoner, Elliot Enright, Jeremy Majors and Justin Gorman led Milwaukee to a second-place finish (7:41.98) in the 4x880-yard relay barely being edged out by Oklahoma State University (7:40.69).

"The guys got edged out at the end, but still ran a great race," Panther coach Pete Corfeld said. "We had some young guys running and I'm sure they learned a good lesson today that they'll carry into next week at the Drake Relays."

The Panther men were looking for more success as the team had qualified for the 1600-meter relay finals. Unfortunately, things weren't meant to be as the third-seeded Panthers finished seventh (3:17.61) in the event. Despite the low time, the quartet of Adam Hobler, Enright, Eric Gresham and Majors still achieved the team's fastest time of the season with the 3:13.30 they registered in the preliminary round.

The relay teams weren't the only competitors in the meet for Milwaukee as Nick Davis, Jered Hokenson and Sean Cludy each competed in field events. Davis and Hokenson finished 15th (6'6.75") and 22nd (6' 2.75") in the high jump while Cludy finished 18th (46' 10.25") in the triple jump.

"This year's relays were really exciting for us," Corfeld said. "Today may have been one of the best days of relay running UWM's ever had. This really raises the level of our team and raises our expectations, but it's fun to be a part of."

All totaled, the UWM men finished this year's relay meet with one second-place finish and two third-place finishes. UWM will head to Des Moines, Iowa next weekend to compete in the Drake Relays.
