Schultz, Snyder Top Pole Vault At Southern Illinois Invite
CARBONDALE, Ill. (March 25, 2006) - Seniors Dan Schultz and Jeremiah Snyder tied for first place in the pole vault to lead the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's track and field team in its season-opening meet at the Southern Illinois Invitational this weekend in Carbondale. The Panthers finished with 54.5 points for eighth place. Both UWM seniors cleared 15-0 to tie for the event lead with one other athlete. Senior Kyle Huebner also scored in the event, clearing 14-0 for sixth place in his first meet with the Panthers since the 2004 Horizon League Outdoor Championships. Junior Justin Gorman took third in the 800m and freshman Adam Schleis fourth in the long jump. Gorman ran a time of 1:54.45, while Schleis leapt 23-0 3/4 in the long jump. Schleis' jump was the fifth-best in school history. In the 110m hurdles, he scored with a time of 15.14 and an eighth-place finish, his time in that event putting him eighth in UWM's annals. Sophomore Justin Bohler was the top Milwaukee finisher in the hurdles, taking fifth in 14.85. The Panthers also received scoring performances from senior Josh Nygren in the 1500m and sophomore Larry Ehrhorn in the shot put. Nygren crossed the line with a time of 4:02.08 in his event and Ehrhorn threw 49-3 1/4 in the shot. Milwaukee returns to action at the Stanford Invitational, March 31-April 1, in Palo Alto, Calif.
