Men's Track Finishes Third At CarthageJan. 19, 2003 MILWAUKEE - Kyle Huebner broke his own meet record in the pole vault Saturday at the Carthage College Division I Invitational in Kenosha to lead the Panthers to a third-place finish overall. Huebner cleared 14-6, breaking his old mark of 13-5.75, set at last year's Carthage meet. The Panthers amassed 93 points to finish behind Marquette and DePaul. Adam Hobler added a second-place effort in the 400m, finishing in 50.17. Hobler led three Panthers in scoring in the event, as Gabe Wagoner was sixth in 50.83 and Nick Bruskewitz was eighth in 51.09. Nick Davis also led a trio of placers in the high jump with his second-place effort of 6-6. Huebner was third in the event, also clearing 6-6, while Sean Cludy cleared 5-5.75 to finish seventh. Eric Gresham also placed in two events, finishing fifth in the 55m in 6.81 and eighth in the 200m in 23.51. James Wright was sixth in the 55m, finishing in 6.85, while Nick Viall finished sixth in the 200m in 23.26. Other placers for the Panther runners included Andy Kivioja, who finished sixth in the 800m in 1:58.57 and Steve Saul, who also was sixth in the men's mile in 4:26.11. Dan O'Leary was seventh in the 55m hurdles in 8.56, followed by Huebner in eighth in 8.63.
In the long jump, Cludy was sixth after an effort of 20-2.5, followed by Scott Bambrough in eighth, jumping 19-9.5. Cludy and Bambrough also placed in the triple jump, with Cludy finishing third with a jump of 43-7 and Bambrough in fourth after jumping 42-5.25. The pair was joined in the triple by Steven Capela with a jump of 39-8.5.
The men's 4x400m relay also set a meet record in 3:22.11, besting the old mark of 3:22.19. The distance medley relay team finished third in 10:51.52. The Panthers return to action Saturday as they travel to Charleston, Ill., for the Eastern Illinois Invitational. |
